Many photos, as always, but here is the summary of my latest adventures
The balloon festival was well worth the lack of sleep. Very surreal to stand among throngs of inflating hot air balloons. I wasn't even able to stay to the second round of them. The interesting ones I saw included the Energizer Bunny, Noah's "Arky," and Earl the Dead Cat.
They also have a "Night-Glo" where they don't take off but inflate and run the burners in unison. Also entertaining.
Every good labor day party needs a flame juggler (yes, Sam and Katie, that is Jeff Olivero)
UPA sectionals. Beautiful day, they started off well and got worse throughout the day, but pulled it together the next day to make it to Regionals (this coming weekend in Arizona)
Amy Holkeboer took some time off from Mayo to check out Colorado, her hopeful future home state. Sadly, the Ultimate tournament was the only good weather while she was here, so we took what adventures we could.
Olympic Training Center
We gave Pikes Peak Highway a shot, but they had gotten so much snow the past couple days they weren't able to keep up with the plowing. Multiple feet per day, we were told. The road was only open until their halfway point, only about 9,000 ft.It has been sunny since she left. But the peaks are looking even taller with snow on them!
