Yaks

Finally, a post from Reuben and Rachel. It has been a long time but it was worth the wait because...

Rach and I got Kayaks!! Unfortunately there is too much snow for any fun with them yet. The closest thing we can give you to action shots is us posing in the basement. But, we would like to introduce you to the newest members of our family.

Yes it is a kayak. Mine is blue.

Rach standing next to her beauty.

Don't stare directly at the reflectors. To much flash!
look out placid waters...

Here we come... some time in the spring.

As of yet we have no names for the newbies. Suggestions are allowed. We make no promises on what we will select.

My suggestion for Kayak names: George and Gracie like the humpback whales in Star Trek IV.

I vote for "Bob" and "Wade"

Those are some fancy canoes! I like video game characters. How about Mario and Luigi?

How about Flying Dutch or "Paddling - Dutch" -nice choice in Hope College colors :) Hope the snow melts soon so you can use them! We have 7 days of 50 degrees coming up that should be making it's way to you soon.

How about the monitor and the merrimac, the titanic and the lusitania, or even on a serious note, the edmund hillary and the tensing norgay

The ony one of those I knew of was the titanic. But I like the idea of naming after old boats. Edmund is a boat neam that comes to mind, but probably a bad name for boats being used primarily in the great lakes region. What is the history of those other boats?
flying dutch is cool b/c of the pirates, but notb/c of Hope.

monitor is a famous civil war boat for the north, the merrimac is a famous southern boat, they both sunk in a storm or something, the other two boats the titanic and lusitania both sunk and the last aren't boats, sir edmund hillary was the first person to climb everest, tensing norgay was his sherpa, i find naming a boat after a sherpa funny
