I understand the January moon is the closest to the earth; its at perigee-- 221,577 miles from the Earth. At least that's what Dad's i-touch told me. ;-) I believe it. Thanks to the i-touch I can sound almost as smart as my kids!
Took this shot a few minutes ago. The other night I went for wood and it was light enough to read a book out by the barn--moonlight.

There's a trick to it. I'll share sometime....
That is truly amazing! Here in South Africa, at least once a month, we get this HUGE orange moon. It looks like it wants to land on planet earth.
