Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head!

The old Prinsburg rain gage still works.... For those of us who need glasses, the gage reads about 4-1/2 inches.
This is what fell last night and this morning... and more to come! At least the radar band looks narrower and faster-moving this time.
Last night gave us small marble sized hail, one broken old branch, several heart-stopping lightning strikes, a very wet basement, and interesting conversation in church this morning. Our creek flooded even more than usual and we have several new little lakes on the way to church.
The Colorado contingency had to detour this morning because I-196 was flooded by Saugatuck. (Kalamazoo River).
Pretty entertaining! That will teach me to pray for rain! ;-)

Hey family, good to hear a small bit from you last night! It's been a crazy few weeks, and today is our first opening day! I am about to head out and take some pictures. Or at least try to see if any of the cabins have everyone there. So many roads are flooded by us its near impossible to get here! Interesting to read that you guys are getting that much rain too. Even in Seymour, the main city we go to, is flooding. Many of our full time staff live there and have been evacuated because standing water on the roads. And our camp director lives in Columbus where a dam broke in town, but hasn't affected his our yet, to his knowledge. It is so weird because there is no sign of it on camp, since we are at a pretty "high" elevation (compared to the surroundings, you remember the hill you had to drive up, mom?).

anyhow, just wanted to update you on the surroundings. I still have seen none of the flooding, and still want to, it seems very surreal! I will help out our friends whose house might be getting flooded, so I will see some aftermath. Either way, I am say on higher ground, and maybe pray that all our campers can get here safely today and tomorrow!

I realized we got a lot of rain, but I didn't realize it was that much. When Rach and I drove home that field on the South side before the school house had a ton of lakes too. Every lightning strike there was a bunch of glare. Then yesterday morning I was helping the Gunninks remove things from there flooded basement including carpet and padding. The water table is just a lot higher. Now it is pushing water up through the floor and no ammount of wet vac can take care of it until the table lowers. Crazy.
