Get Your Kicks on Route 66

Hey Kids,
Our little adventure has begun. We have internet tonight and we wanted to let you know we are alive and kicking.
Our plane landed late last night (early this morning) in Albuquerque. This was the only car the rental place had left for us. Dad was sooo disappointed. He really wanted to drive a white Neon again!

Borrowing from Uncle Steve's bag of tricks...
We and I saw our first Jack Rabbit today. He's in this grass. Can you find him?

We spent the afternoon in the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. This is a close-up of a petrified tree. The colors are cool.....

And some random desert shots....

The moon was so cool today. Came up about an hour before sunset. I'm hoping to be able to incorporate it in some shots later in the week.

"route 66" written by Bobby Troupe, sung later that same year by Nat King Cole and subsequently covered by many other artists. Thanks Wikipedia.

For real, a Mustang? I would have gone with the Neon. It looks amazing out there, nice shots mom. Can't wait to see them all... and to find the stupid rabbit.

Mom-
The moon is going to rise later and later each night because it moves across the sky slower than the sun in our frame of reference.

Dad-
Does driving the car make you want to buy one? Or, do you still prefer the luxury of the mazda?

I would rather be driving the Mazda 6. It has more head room.

If you have The Joshua Tree album along with you I would suggest playing it during your next drive. I always thought it would make a good CD to listen to during a drive through the desert.

Awesome shots. I'm jealous.... :) It was a beautiful fall day here though.
